TUG COKER

Hello and welcome!

For those who don't know, I'm an actor/writer/producer with a lovely wife and three boys. If you recognize me as an actor, it's probably from playing one of John Krasinski's brothers, Pete Halpert, on The OFFICE. I've been lucky to be a part of a few successful shows over the years (HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER, THE GOOD WIFE, BALLERS), and I once got to shoot Chevy Chase with a fake gun on the show CHUCK. It's a fun gig if you can get it! I consider myself lucky to have worked with some of the most prominent directors working today, including: Paul Feig, Pamela Fryman, Peter Berg, David Dobkin, Matt Shakman, and Marc Webb.

Despite spending much of the past few years in TV/Film, my first love will always be theater. I received my M.F.A. at the Institute for Advanced Theatre Training at Harvard University in conjunction with the American Repertory Theatre. I've enjoyed working at such renowned regional theaters as The Old Globe, A.R.T. and The Studio Theatre in Washington D.C. And working in New York is the best. One my favorite experiences was an incredible production called The Cataract at the Women's Project Theater. But the pinnacle of my theater career, thus far, was starring on Broadway portraying the life of my boyhood idol, Larry Bird, in Magic/Bird, directed by Thomas Kail.

I'm also a proud member of the Writers Guild. With Tommy Dewey, I co-created a series called NOW WE'RE TALKING that was nominated for a 2017 WGA award. It was easily one of my favorite experiences of my life.

And about me personally? I was born in Dayton, Ohio and grew up in Fredericksburg, Virginia. I love sports - I'll watch any sport. Always have, always will. I walked on to the basketball team my freshman year at The College of William & Mary, but I never played because everyone was better than me. I transferred to University of Virginia my sophomore year, with the hopes of playing basketball. But the players were even better at UVA than they were at William & Mary, so it was a quick "thanks, but no thanks". Still, I graduated with a B.A. in History and because of one supportive teacher, I fell in love with theater, and kicked off this crazy journey! I've lived in San Francisco, Boston, New York, and Los Angeles pursuing this life in the arts. I love going to see plays. I love going to see live music. I'll make time to play golf. I love winning (but mostly losing) a few bucks on the blackjack table. I enjoy grabbing a good bite of food and glass of wine with my wife. And as you'll see, a lot of my favorite passions and pastimes have turned into jobs.

Most importantly, I'm a proud dad to three young boys!  I love, love, love, being a dad.

Thank for making the visit.

Best,

Tug
